Fanorona is a traditional two-player strategy board game that challenges your tactical thinking. The goal is to capture all opponent pieces by moving your pieces along lines on the board. A unique rule allows chain captures: when you capture one piece, all enemy pieces in the same line and direction beyond it are also removed, as long as no empty spot or your own piece blocks the path. You can make successive captures in one turn, but not in the same direction twice. If you have both an approach and a withdrawal move available, you can only make one. Also, you cannot repeat a point in the same turn. This game is perfect for families and friends looking for a fun, brain-teasing activity.
To play Fanorona, you need two players. The board has intersecting lines where pieces are placed. Players take turns moving one of their pieces along a line to an adjacent empty intersection. If your move brings your piece next to an opponent's piece (approach) or moves it away from an adjacent opponent piece (withdrawal), you capture that piece and all opponent pieces in the same direction beyond it, unless blocked. You may continue capturing in the same turn, but not in the same direction as the previous capture. Remember, you cannot make both an approach and withdrawal move in the same turn, and you cannot revisit the same point. The game ends when one player loses all pieces or cannot move.
